Facets

The origami look or what I call "Facets" has been seen everywhere in the past year from fashion to interiors. It seems like a visual trick to see something that should look one way but gets crumpled, folded or bent into another form. I think it is a refreshing turn toward geometric minimalism, almost like a cubist painting simplified into 3-D. Shown from top left: Folding Interior Structure by Digital Primitive; Faceted Vase by Dwell; Gold bracelet by 3.1 Phillip Lim-Spring 2010; Faceted table lamp by West Elm; Zebra Origami dress by Topshop; Realgood chair by Blue Dot; Shatter teapot by Umbra; Gold Origami ring by Smug Designs; Origami bag by Frrry.
