Old World Red and Gold

Alexander McQueen's last and final collection, sadly due to his untimely passing, was a tribute to old world Elizabethan dress. His velvet, gold and scarlet combination reminded me of a tapestry I photographed on a trip to France in 2008. This red and gold pairing can sometimes look a little "holiday" but it makes a bold and luxurious statement when used correctly. A refreshing yet opulent departure from such a modern and minimal world we live in. Shown from top left: DeDieppe Hotel in Dubai; Alexander McQueen dress -Fall 2010; Tapestry from the Chateau de Chambord, France- my own photo; Truffles from Seattle Chocolates; Alexander McQueen clutch - Fall 2010; Elizabeth the First painting; Recycled red gold bowls; Marimekko Pillow from Imagine Pillows.
