Design Inspiration: Sculpture

While I was in Oregon for the Color Marketing Conference a few weeks ago, I was able to make a short visit to the Portland Art Museum. While I was there I saw an amazing sculpture by Ursula Von Rydingsvard called P's and Q's. Made of pieced together cedar and accented with graphite, this earthy piece was hand carved into a patchwork of angled geometric shapes. Standing at over 10ft tall it was a very impressive piece that could be viewed from all sides. I was able to take a few detailed pictures which show the rough carvings and the mica like hues of the graphite pigments. Here is a link to more of her work http://www.ursulavonrydingsvard.net Very inspiring!
