Olfusa River #1 (Iceland) by Edward Burtynsky

Olfusa River #1 (Iceland) is a chromogenic color print by Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky. The image is an optical sleight of hand that suggests an abstract, painterly landscape, but is in fact a detailed, bird's eye view photograph of glacial run-off. Already a scarce resource, water will become increasingly unattainable as these polar reserves melt; this idyllic scene of pastel blue waves dotted with flocks of white swans is alluring and alarming.
