They are called "Farmscrapers" and are designed by architect Vincent Callebault for the Chinese city of Shenzhen. The conceptual project, called "Asian Cairns" is part vertical farming and part high rise building. A complete eco-system within itself, it will have a collection of wind turbines, solar cells and plans to recycle waste water from the built in farming system. Looking like a balancing act of stacked stones this is one amazing vision of turning cities into complete ecosystems.
